Challenge Suggestions!

Good morning everyone! :)

Sorry to do this to you, but there will be no challenge this week... I'm sorry! I've got 2 reasons:
  • I've been having a brain fart lately and can't think of a good theme. Sounds lame but it's true! (I've been obsessing over having a black/white/gray theme but we JUST did a colored challenge so I wanted something more creative)
  • I'll be out of town Friday and Saturday so putting together the challenge gallery would be problematic.
The challenge will be returning next Monday though! BUT... before then, I'd like some suggestions from you! What would you like to see as a nail design theme? Any specific colors? Motifs? Materials? Give me your ideas! :) Thanks a lot guys! Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

  2. Boo! LOL JK, but after participating last week I was looking forward to this week!

I think the black/white/grey theme sounds good. Might also be fun to choose a specific nail art tool for a challenge? Like, dotting tool challenge, striper brush challenge, tape challenge or even a challenge for a specific Konad plate or a range of plates (like m50-59 or something). Today is the first day of summer, so seasonal might be good - although maybe weird if you chose winter right about now =) Favorite food challenge, candy (or candy bar) challenge, plant challenge ... OK so I could probably sit here all day coming up with progressively cheesier ideas LOL.

Colette- Wow! Lots of great ideas! Thanks a bunch :) I'm going to write those all down and save them for later!! Don't worry, challenges will be back next week for sure!!

  4. How about a Konad-Free challenge? Or an all water-marble challenge? I just started reading your blog, so I'm not sure if these have been already done :) I like Collette's food challenge idea!

  7. I was thinking about possible ideas early, early this morning when I couldn't sleep. Of course I can't remember them now! LOL How 'bout water marbling? Or uncoordinating colors? That one would drive me crazy! A mani specifically designed to match whatever outfit you choose?

  9. I think a food theme would be good, get people using all those fruit/ice-cream/pizza konad designs!

  10. What about a song theme? There are a ton of songs out there that would be fun nails to do, Candy Shop, California Gurls, Poker Face, My First Kiss, Starstrukk, Clocks, White Night, Cowboy Casanova

  11. I am a book nerd, so last night while reading my current book.. I was like 'this would make for a really interesting mani' - So, I propose a challenge where you do your nails to match book cover art.. That way I have a *reason* to do that look.. heh~

  12. I loved the vintage one.
How about something on a historical theme? Like art history?
    Or periods in art?
    Deco
    Renaissance
    Rococo
    Gothic
    Classical

Or how about something crazy like surreal? Dada? Fauvism? Collage? Pop art?

Or something like "a summer day" or "a hot date" or "dreams"

I love the results, so much talent!

    :D

  13. Charlotte- Yes! Great idea!

Danielle- Ohhh I like it! That idea could bring endless possiblities! I like that a lot :)

Delaynee- Lol. Good idea! Very creative! Everyone would have to take a picture of their manicure with their book of inspiration!! :)

  14. Oh this makes me sad! I was looking forward to this weeks challenge after participating for the first time last week. LOL!

How about a story telling challenge? Finding a creative way to tell a story throughout your nails.

Alice in Wonderland challenge... only because I'm obsessed.

A childhood challenge. People could incorporate things from their own childhood.

I love the marble idea someone posted earlier.

Another idea is those random holidays or "special days" that most people don't know about. You know how Google changes their loco on their main page for certain days... Like today they are celebrating "First Day of Summer." We could have a challenge based on those random little special days.

We could also have a holiday challenge for the real big holidays each month.

  15. And I was going to try and participate this week. I have to time taking off my mani's in order to do this. Um, most of the good ones have been taken.

Let's see - a sponge contest (using sponging technique)
creative french mani's. post a picture of a work of art and have everyone come up with something using the colors or feel etc. anything... rainy day mani.....sunny mani.. leafy mani...
pick a state as a theme. Ok...I have to get back to work.

  16. Texture - people's interpretations on texture - fluffy, rough, crunchy, etc. Or materials instead - wood, stone, plastic (I'd love to see a granite mani)
Flavors - sweet, salty, sour, bitter, spicy/hot, umami...
Temperature/weather - scorching, hella cold, breezy, balmy...
    Emotion
    3D
Bed Sheet prints (I'm looking at the stripes on my pillowcase - would make a great mani!)
    Fabric as inspiration
    Architecture as inspiration
Fashion as inspiration (you post an outfit, and we make a mani to go with it)
So much fun to look forward to!!

  17. A vampire theme! Just like your recent nails post.

  18. I was thinking what represents your hometown or maybe even use state flag colors?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love the idea of fashion as inspiration for a mani contest. It would help when you couldn't think of anything that week too just do a picture and everyone get inspiration from that outfit and post their ideas....

I also loved the idea of books and songs for ideas.... Again would give you some like default one ones when picking a challenge was hard...

I tend to do a bunch of french mani's so maybe a theme on unique ways to liven up a french?

Also I tend to use stuff around the house to liven up my manicures... maybe you could do a fabric theme where someone has to use a peice of fabric of some kind to create a certian effect? I do that a lot. You can get some very interesting desgins and textures that way....

I really love the idea of having to use certain tools too... it might even be a good way for some people to learn about new tools you can use on your nails...

  20. What about a nerd/geek theme.... Like designs that are related to the computer in some way?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh! Maybe an underwater or aquarium theme? Or a favorite animal theme?

    ReplyDelete
  22. floral themed nails? that way anyone can do em from konad stampers to anyone with a dotting tool or even a toothpick...freehanders can paint flowers too...theres also flower stickers that ppl like to use

  23. I'd love to see people's manis in honor of the period of their life they are NOT proud of. Cause we've all been angsty goths :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Maybe a bridal manicure?
By the way, I'm new here, so I was wondering if there are any winners/prizes for the challenges or they are done just for fun?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Gosh, I'm so far behind on commenting! Thank you all for the suggestions!!

Anonymous- A bridal theme is a good idea!! And now that you mention it, I think my "Barely There- Glitzy Nails" could work as a bridal manicure!! BTW, no there are no prizes. This is all just for fun! :)

  26. Yes, I tried something similar to "Barely There- Glitzy Nails" - but with white and silver. I think it turned out well :)
OK, sounds good, I like it :) I will try to participate in the current challenge, depends on how well my design turns out :)
