CG Awakening - Zombie Zest

China Glaze "Zombie Zest"
I'm sure you've seen it a zillion times... because I know I have! Oh well. Here are my photos of "Zombie Zest". Sorry about the sloppy polish around my cuticles. I'm begining to really hate Seche Vite. I apply my nail polish almost flawlessly, do a little clean-up around the edges, and apply my Vite topcoat. It looks perfect! For about 20 minutes... then the pulling happens :( The Vite grabs on to the top layer of my polish and shrinks as it dries, leaving behind a sheer layer. It's not so bad from a distance, but up close and in macro shots, it really looks sloppy. I notice it most with Nfu Ohs, certain Zoyas, and this polish. I don't know what the reasoning is. I'm just annoyed. Maybe I need a new topcoat.
Enough ranting. On with the polish! "Zombie Zest" is... a dirt yellow? I know. It looks green but see the color wheel below! Yellow + Black = Zombie Zest! :)
"Zombie Zest" is full of glitter specs! They seem to have color shifting qualities like flakes do... See below. The glitters look gold when the light is reflecting directly off of them and they look green in indirect light! Gosh, what color is that base??
I favor this polish in the sun... it's mega sparkly!
Halloween is almost here! I wish I had some amazing plans to share with you all but as of now... I got nothin'. Have a lovely day! The forecast here is 70 degrees! Just perfect :)

  4. I almost bought that the other day at Sally's, but I thought it looked an awful lot like Sweet Pea by Hard Candy. I thought wrong, apparently.

Yeah, I was in love with Seche Vite for like, two seconds, because it was a top coat that actually dried, unlike the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails I had been using. But the shrinkage, dear GOD!

  5. I LOVE this polish...wear it every weekend! I agree about Seche...it has serious shrinkage issues which has led me to hate it....that and it is only good for 1/3 of the bottle before it dies. :(

  6. I really like this one, but I have a close dupe, so I didn't pick it up. I did grab Mummy May I, though. I had that same problem with SV and tried ChG FFTC. It does pretty much the same thing, only it smells better.

  7. Neither Seche nor Poshe work for me. They cause shrinkage and are always super thick after using only a third of the bottle. So far my favorite topcoat is Essie Good to Go.

  8. The colorbase seem to be brown but the green/goldish flakes give the green shade to it. I want this polish!!

  9. I never thought I'd love a green, but this one is so completely weird and stunning! Awesome! :D

  10. I love green, I love green, I love green!... and I'm in my green period, pretty much like Picasso had a blue one after all. I love everything that is related to green (and other colours too, wait until you swatch a purple polish, hehe ^^) as it's perfect with the season and how I feel. You couldn't be wrong with this polish, combining greeeeeeeeen and sparkles!

Concerning close-ups and macro shots, isn't it frustrating that they show so many flaws in what looked like a perfect manicure? But when you think about it they just show your nails many times their real size and thus, no wonder we can see some flaws here and there sometimes. However, even when I look veeeeery close, I can't see anything which I'd call sloppy in your pictures, and everytime I look at your articles I have a hardtime not wanting to buy them all. (I still struggle very hard against this Funny Bunny temptation you awoke in me, you know...^^).

  12. I love Zombie Zest! I wasn't planning on buying it but hubby bought it for me I am so glad he did it.
I also got the other two, but I don't like Ick-A-Bod-Y, the formula is terrible! :(.

  13. I find that if your seche vite or poshe is causing "shrinkage" you may need to purchse the appropriate thinner to bring the polish to the proper viscosity. (using when I am at the 1/2 full level I need to thin the bottle once in a while)

  14. Thank you all for the comments/suggestions for a top coat!

Beata- My bottle is brand new! I do have Seche Restore though. I can try that out and see if it improves it any :)
