Challenge (Book Cover)

Challenges 23 comments

Good morning everyone! I'm back with a new challenge! This week's theme is a book cover... any cover that you'd like!

This challenge is to be inspired by the book cover. Use colors, shapes, etc. that are found in its design. You may use elements/ideas found inside of the book (such as characters or things) but be sure that your nails are still inspired by the OUTSIDE! When you are done, photograph your nails with your book so we can see how the cover translates onto your nails.

Send me your "Book Cover" nail designs by Friday (7-02-10) at midnight (CST) to polishhoarder@gmail.com! Don't forget to add a link to your blog if you would like me to include it with your entry!

Preferred file size: 7" WIDE x 5.25" TALL @ 72 dpi

If you do not know how to crop and resize your image, let me know and I will gladly do it for you! It is better that I get a photo too large so I can minimize it to the size I need, rather than a photo too small. Photos that are smaller than the size I request will lose a lot of detail and become fuzzy when I enlarge them!

A big "Thank you" goes to Delaynee! She submitted this challenge idea to me!

Oooh, great idea! If I had any talent for nail art I would love to do the Half Blood Prince's adult cover or the new Wicked cover! *hint hint*

Oh those sound fun! I'm not sure what I'll do yet... All I have lying around is books on photography, html code, and graphic design. Hmmmm?

does it have to be like a novel or could we use other books like a kids picture book or something like that or recipie book?

Courtney- You can use any book that you'd like! You just have to use the book cover as inspiration for your nail design :)

Sounds like fun! Kind of funny also because my last challenge entry actually matched the cover of the book I was reading at the time (Dreamfever) & I meant to take a pic to include on my blog & forgot LOL. I've got a full bookshelf & several out from the library, the hard part will be choosing which to use =)

Oh, man!!! This one is gonna be hard!! Though, the hubs has *quite* a selection of comic books. Does that count as a book?

Fantastic idea! Would graphic novels/comic books be ok? I just bought a new one with an amazing cover, seriously, it is SO captivating.

Colette- I know! It will be tough :) I'm going to try to find the most interesting book cover I have... one with crazy colors, hopefully!

Megan & Jade- It can be ANY book! The only requirement is that it has to have a cover! :)

Delaynee- No, thank YOU for such a great idea! I like that everyone will be doing the same thing but it will be very personalized based on their book choice! I'm so excited to see what everyone does!

Fun!! I don't physically have the book cover I want to use. I have a nook now. Is it cheating if I just add a pic of it? Or should I photograph my nails in a bookstore?? :)

Liz- LOL... well, don't inconvenience yourself by going to the bookstore just to take a picture of the book with your nails. Unless, of course, you need an excuse to go to there:) If you can't find the book, it is okay if you create a collage of the cover and your nails.

Great idea! I hope there'll also be magical and playful fairytale nails inspired by children's books - if not, you could make it its own theme some time :)

DONE! I went for a cover that always drew my attention but I went simple and very direct. Maybe next challenge i will go a little more extreme:)
