Pamplona Purple

OPI Pamplona Purple
It's been a while since I posted... I've been painting my nails regularly BUT I've just been too lazy to photograph them. I didn't use my D90 for this picture (or the one below, for that matter). Neither of my lenses will focus any closer than 18 inches :(
I kept this manicure simple by using Konad only on my ring finger and embellishing the center of the bow.

Base Color - OPI Pamplona Purple
Bow - Konad M59 (in Silver Special Polish)

Process to adhere the rhinestone:
  1. Paint nails with desired color.
  2. Stamp Konad image.
  3. Apply Konad top coat.
  4. Stick gem to nail while top coat is still wet.
  5. Once dry, apply Seche Vite to the nail while making sure not to paint over the gem... flood the top coat AROUND the edge of the rhinestone.

  5. That's lovely, very tasteful! Having had similar experiences with my camera - more into photography than beauty blogging, but have just started a beauty blog, not as good as yours though! - I did think you might struggle with getting the lenses to focus close enough, not completely sure but you might have to invest in a macro lens to be able to use the D90, nothing is every straightforward is it?!

  6. So lovely! Great combination and great tip about applying the rhinestones:) I used to apply the topcoat all over it, but then the shine is somewhat lost. Have to try it your way. Does it stick long enough? I have that feeling if I don't go over it with a clear polish, then it would simply fall off:)

  7. Thank you so much everyone! :)

Debbie- I've been looking at macro lenses. Ugh they are so expensive! And they don't focus as close as I'd like them to! I don't want to have to stretch my arm way out to get my camera to focus clearly... I might have to go to a camera store and see what they recommend. You are right. Nothing can be simple with these SLRs :) Good thing I've got my trusty Canon point-and-shoot as backup!

KONADomania- Thanks! I've found this way of applying rhinestones to be pretty good! I didn't want to cover up my rhinestones for the same reason you don't. I want to keep it extra sparkly. And it works! It has been 3 full days now and it is still holding on strong! You just have to make sure to that you let the top coat flood/touch around the edges of the gem. It covers the edges so nothing can get stuck underneath and pull it up. Do you see in my photo how the topcoat is sloped up the gem? That's all. It's super easy and super effective. Oh yah, I use Seche Vite top coat because it is really strong and thick. That helps too :)
