What better time to post photos of my new LABELED nail wheels than now while my nails are short little nubs!?
I FINALLY got these finished (5 months later...)! I photographed the wheels outside under overcast skies. Most of the swatches are color accurate but some may be a little off. Blame that on my camera :) For the labels, I created them using Adobe Illustrator and Indesign. It's okay if you don't know what those are... It was time consuming but easy :) And now I've got every color swatched and easily accessible! No more searching through plastics boxes to find a polish to wear!!

I've got about 50 nail wheels unused lying around in my room, waiting to be used My reason for not using them? I don't want to write on them to label.
You are GENIUS! May I know how exactly you estimated the proportions and ensured that the names were right across each nail?
Thanks for this great comparsion!
What a great idea! I placed an order with 8ty8beauty.com yesterday and it didn't occur to me til AFTER to throw in some nail wheels. *sigh* I really need to get some.
Great job! I need to do this. It will make a finding a polish to wear much easier
Bellebathandbeyond- You should get started filling them up! It takes FOREVER to paint those things!! Just like your nails, they take 2-3 coats... I was able to create the labels by using Illustrator. It's a long process to explain. I did a lot of test prints to make sure it would come out right :)
Sonidlo- :)
Megan- I'm all out of wheels now! I got mine from ebay.
Awesome--I love the labels you did!
Looks great! I have to get around to painting & labeling my wheels also--looks very time consuming lol
I just ordered some nail wheels off ebay a couple days ago. I was going to do nail swatches and comparison without undo my manicures, and to practice techniques. But what a great idea to organise your stash and colours. x
nail wheels are such fun ! =D
shame they are hard to find around here...
KarenD- Thanks!
Oh My Polish- Oh my gosh... it was soooo time consuming! :)
Stylishly Yours- Oh yay! There will be lots of nail wheel fun in your future! Lol... It really does work well for trying to find a color to wear. It is just so hard digging around in boxes!!
Sarah B- Oh my gosh! Aren't they? I had to order mine from Hong Kong!
Where can I find nail wheels, Sally's?
First of all if I ever buy nail wheels... I need to know where you got those! They look way way more sturdy than most I have seen where I just feel like the tabs will break off... Also are they re-usable? Does anyone know? I have always been curious....
Also for those on a tight budget... I keep my colors on index cards. One swipe of color (or sometimes more to get an accurate color) followed by the name. I keep them by brand so it is easier to find, so all my cards have a brand name as header. Plus it is convient to just grab them if I know I am going to town. That way I know what colors I have already. It helps with me not buying so many doubles of colors.
Can't wait to see all of them! I've been wanting to create some for some time now and have never gotten around to buying some. I can only imagine how much time it takes.
Hey those of you who are looking for nail wheels that are cheap and easy to find use AMAZON. I get all my wheels from one seller who sends 10 wheels with 20 blank nails its cheap and shipping is usually only 2-3 days. Just type nail wheel in the amazon search and it will pop right up.
I better start working on it then! If you could do some sort of tutorial or something, even just the specs, would appreciate it. :)
I will start working! Do you find that the white nail wheels represent color better than the clear ones?
