Essie (Winter 2010) - Smokin Hot

Essie 29 comments

Essie "Smokin' Hot"

What It Is

Described online as a "stone-cold fox gray". What the heck does that mean?! It's dark gray with a purple undertone. Why do they have to get all fancy with their wording. No one understands that stuff! Part of
Essie's Winter 2010 collection.

Application

If I remember correctly, this is 2 coats of "Smokin' Hot". Application was smooth and the polish's consistency was perfect. I'm not sure of the wear because I've only just swatched this color... If it's anything like "Going Incognito", then it's a keeper!
Do you like the new symbol I designed? No, that's not a logo... it's just an edited copyright watermark for images. I was tired of the long, distracting name that I had plastered across all of my pictures. This simple symbol says "Hey! Property of the Polish Hoarder"! :)

Now I totally agree with this name. But I agree with you...what's with the fancy shmancy description? LOL I like the new copyright symbol.

i just bought this today!!!!! i went to the store for this and opi "tease-y does it". i was going to get "going incogito" too but i put it down, (i already spend too much money for the day) even though i get at discount prices. but anyways, next time i go (probably next week, lol) im going to get that one too.
Smokin' Hot, suuuuuuuuuch a pretty color. i like it. different from anything i have, since i dont usually go for neutral-ish colors like this. cant wait to put it on tonight!

So funny! You've swatched the 2 pieces of the Essie Winter collection I bought. Great choices :) I LOVE Smokin' Hot . . . Actually wore it for 3 days straight! (Not because it chipped, but because I'm ADD with nail polish)

I just discovered your blog and I love its style and your pictures! And your posts today made me especially happy since I just ordered Going Incognito and Smokin' Hot the other day. They look great on you - can't wait to get them!

I love this color on you! Super flattering. Also, filing your nails round inspied me to do the same because I was having the same problem. I'm also liking the round shape!
You should change the link to you've got nail. She got a new website. also please consider adding VampyVarnish.com and Lacquerized.com. they are great nail sites and would be nice additions to your links. (neither of these are my sites, i just enjoy them and would like to share them with some of your readers) Thanks!

Boy! It's,"smokin hot" that's for sure! Ya,funny way to describe the polish. Maybe Essie knows something that we don't know....lol! Cool looking watermark too.

I really like this colour. When fall comes I want the nails dark most of the times.

ROFL @ the stone-cold fox grey. The first thought I have was: the name doesn't fit. It's not sexy! Classic red is sexy, but then I thought of it...it is smoky (smoking), so why not.

Yeah, I'm babbling. I like the color and love your photos and your new watermark.

I love your new photo style. However, I miss the pics of your nails with the mirror under them lol, it made it look like a fashion magazine or something ;)

such a pretty color, and it looks awesome on you!
your nails and fingers look so pretty, they look like they're all photoshopped, haha! (they aren't, right?)

I do like the little symbol :D I don't usually notice those things right away, but I actually did this time and thought "hey that's pretty darn cute." I really like that you're creative enough to make it on your own, too :)

And I'm soo loving gray polishes lately. I stole your manicure idea of hot pink tips with flakies over it (like a french manicure, only not so French because of the pink haha) and I absolutely love it, but it's not feeling so "fall" to me right now. My birthday was yesterday, though, so I think it was good for a birthday celebration. Time to take this off and go for the grays :D

You're giving me nubbin envy! I love the new nail length and I think I'm going to cave in and file mine down. This and Going Incognito are the two polishes I picked up from this collection. I haven't tried them yet, but your swatches are reassuring me that I made the right decisions!

Well, you just convinced me to get this color. It looks amazing on you. I've been trying to hold off this collection, but I think I'll definitely need to get this and Incognito.

a stone cold fox is someone who is seriously attractive -- Jon Hamm, maybe? hehe (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=stone%20cold%20fox) ... so essie is saying it's a GORGEOUS grey, and i agree! hope this clears up the confusion :) -Lucy

This colour is absolutely amazing, and it looks SO incredibly flattering on you. Who knew grey could look so good? I must have it when I splurge and do my next international order (Essie are $18.95 in stores over here, silly Australian prices - Argh!)
